March Malu Heli Celluloid Plant started public-private joint management and was renamed Heli Chemical Plant (renamed Malu Commune Chemical Plant in 1958)
This kind of cooperatives covered all countries in Malu.
The central section of Yunong Advanced Agricultural Production Cooperative was awarded the honorable title of National Advanced Unit for Agricultural Constructions, a certificate of commendation as well as a head of farm cattle by the State Council.

Malu Junior High School was founded.
A power transmission line of 3.7km in all for agricultural irrigations was extended from Malu Farm to Baoqiao. It was the first power transmission line erected in Jiading County for agricultural irrigations.

The total output value of Malu Town achieved RMB10.05 billion yuan, which made it the first town with the total output value exceeding ten billions in the outskirts of Shanghai.

Shanghai Bureau of Civil Administration called a discussion & summary meeting for standardized town administration of Shanghai on pilot towns in Malu.
New school buildings of Malu Middle School were completed and the opening ceremony was held. Pan Zhichun, Secretary of Jiading District Party Committee, unveiled the plaque for the ceremony. The school is located in Yuying Street, adjacent to Yucai Middle School, covers a floor area of 50mou with a construction area of 16,000 sq. m. and a total investment of RMB30 million yuan.
After there years of trial planting by Malu Town Grape Research Institute, “Grape Planting in Sheds” proved a success. Grapes were much better than before in quality and the time to sell them on the market were advanced or postponed accordingly.
When conducting autumn sowing, the planting proportion of the wheat was decreased by 3,708 mou from previous 11,627 mou, the decreased area was used for planting rape 620 mou, seedling trees 879 mou, grape 103 mou, feedstuff 895 mou, vegetables 355 mou, green matures 410 mou, broad beans 240 mou and low-lying areas 206 mou.
Six foreign investors from the U.S., Germany, Japan, Italy, Greece and Hongkong were engaged as first honorary citizens of Malu Town.

The expansion and reconstruction project for Jiading Section of Huyi Rode (the No.204 National Highway) was completed and open to traffic.
The plaque unveiling ceremony for the establishment of Malu Town Labor & Social Security Service Center was conducted.
Project of the Shanghau Seedling Base broke earth. Located in Shenxu Village, the Base covers an area of 1200 mou, and is a large one for cultivation of tree seedlings, integrated cultivation, breeding, production and sales into a whole.
Malu Town was selected as a pilot unit for the work of Communist Youth League in nationwide small towns.
Shanghai Local standard Code of Management for the Cultivation of Jufeng Grapes in Malu compiled by Malu Grapes Research Institute passed examination and approval.
Malu Park held an opening ceremony. Located in the west side of Yuying Street, the Park covers an area of 50mou. There are artificial hills, bridges and flowing water beneath, alcoves, etc. inside the Park and green area accounts for 2/3 of the entire park.

Malu Town Government signed All-Sided Cooperative Agreement on the Project of Taiwan Machinery Industrial Park Zone of Shanghai with Shanghai Bank, Jiading Branch.
With the approval of the People’s Government of Shanghai, the administrative division of Malu Town and Jianbang Town were withdrawn, instead a new Malu Town was established.

Jiading District called an information release meeting in Shanghai International Conference Center to declare that the construction of Taiwan Industrial Park Zone of Shanghai , the zone integrated industrial manufacturing, commercial and trade services, life and living and other functions as a whole would initiate in Malu first. The total output value realized was RMB26.4 billion yuan, taxes paid RMB1.1 billion yuan and contracted foreign investment USD1.09 billion, which enabled Malu to stay in the leading position among towns of Shanghai.

The No.1 factory of 64,000 sq. m. of Flextronics Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. was put into pilot service and in February, the factory was put into formal operation and till the end of May, the output value realized reached RMB508 million yuan.
142 non-local employees of Flextronics Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. first moved into Yongsheng Apartment. March, Yongsheng Apartment Commune Party Branch of more than 20 parties members of those who already moved into Yongsheng Apartment was founded.
Mr. Zhao Ming, Town Chief, together with Mr. Zhang Shunming, Vice Secretary of Malu Party Committee, inspected the peasants’ villas. The total number of peasants who joined Malu Town Labour Security Scheme from May 1 to December 30 via land being recorded on files reached 7000.

Chairman of Shanghai New Wanfeng Industrial Co., Ltd., a private-owned enterprise, signed an cooperative agreement with the mayor of Shoujie City, Anhui Province in Shanghai – China Hope City for the purchase of Shoujie Chemical Fertilizer Plant by Wanfeng with a capital contribution of RMB65 million yuan.
